Instructions for oral presenters

Prior to the meeting:

  • Presentations must use PowerPoint
    • Presentations should have an introductory slide stating presentation title, author names and institutions
    • There are no other limitations on the number or format of slides
  • The room will have a computer and projector; personal laptops cannot be accommodated for presentations
  • We kindly request that all presenters submit their PowerPoint slides to the official email address bfdg-conference2025@bristol.ac.uk by Wednesday April 23rd at noon
  • Please name your PowerPoint file using the following format: Firstname_Surname.pptx
  • Once received, your slides will be automatically downloaded and made available on the official lectern for easy access during your presentation slot.
  • All presenters have been allocated an oral session on either day, with the specific day/time being communicated on our website under the “Programme” tab.

At the meeting:

  • The main presentation sessions will take place in the Humanities Lecture Theatre (Lecture Theatre B.H05) in the Arts Complex of the University of Bristol campus on both days of the conference (a 360 degree tour of the conference venue is available here).
  • If possible, check your presentation has been uploaded in the room prior to the session in which you are presenting
  • On checking in at the conference reception, please make it clear you are a speaker so we can confirm your talk has been received.
  • Please ensure that you are in the conference lecture theatre at least 5 minutes prior to the start of your allocated session. Introduce yourself to the session chair stating how you wish to be introduced
  • Oral presentation length: 15-minute slot: 10 minutes for the talk, 5 minutes for questions

Technical Requirements for PowerPoint Presentations

  • Please note, we require all PowerPoint presentations to be formatted in a 16:9 aspect ratio (1,920 x 1,080 pixels).
  • Videos must be embedded in PowerPoint.

 

Instructions for poster presenters

Prior to the meeting:

  • There will be two poster sessions for BFDG 2025 (one on Thursday 24th April and one on Friday 25th April between 11am and 12pm). Your poster has been allocated to be presented at one of these sessions and has been given a poster board number. To see which poster session your poster has been allocated and your poster board number, please see our website; https://bfdg2025.blogs.bristol.ac.uk/conference-programme/ in the pdf entitled ‘Overview of poster sessions’.
  • Poster presentations should be formatted to fit within a portrait layout in size A0 (841 mm width x 1189 mm height).
  • The poster session will take place in the foyer of the Arts Complex of the University of Bristol campus on both days of the conference (a 360 degree tour of the conference venue is available here).
  • Your poster should be displayed on your allocated poster board number by 9 am on the day of the conference that your poster session takes place. All posters must be removed after the end of the day, no later than 5pm.
  • Materials to attach posters will be provided.

At the meeting:

  • Presenters should attend their poster during their allocated session – this is an essential opportunity to discuss your research in more detail, so do make sure you are available for the full period
  • Note for ECRs that judges will be visiting each poster during the allocated poster sessions; it is important you will be available to answer any questions from the judges
  • Remember to take your poster with you at the end of the day; unclaimed posters will be disposed of.
