The origins of the annual meeting of the British Feeding and Drinking Group are from a 1976 dinner at the Athenaeum, London hosted by Trevor Silverstone. This followed the 1975 Dahlem Research Day on Appetite and Food intake Control.
The following year the group met again in Cambridge and continued to meet annually. By 1984 the group was meeting under the name British Feeding and Drinking Group or BFDG.
Despite its name the BFDG has always been international, welcoming researchers from France, Spain, the Netherlands, USA and more.
The meeting is particularly welcoming of early career and student researchers, with abstracts published in the journal Appetite after the meeting.
